Barron Duvalle Player

Barron Duvalle Player, 60, was born March 6, 1961 in Gainesville, FL. Barron transitioned from his earthly life on May 10, 2021 in Pensacola, FL after a short illness. Barron was the oldest of three sons born to the union of Jeanette S. Filer and Chester F. Player, Gainesville, FL. Barron graduated from Gainesville High School in 1979 and enrolled at the University of Florida where he was a proud member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Barron obtained a degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. His chosen profession as a Counselor for many years motivated him to seek entrepreneurship. He pursued and formed his own business, Building Better Community Services (BCS) to provide counseling services to families and individuals with disabilities. Barron was married to the love of his life, Bonita Angela James, who preceded him in death, November 2020. From their union, their son, Cyrus Player was born. He cherished his family and the loving relationship he had with both his wife and treasured son, which was evident to all who knew him. Barron was an avid fisherman and enjoyed several chartered fishing trips with his family from a young age. Barron was nurtured in the Christian faith at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Gainesville, FL, where he became a faithful member. He later joined his wife and worshipped in the Jehovah's Witness faith. Barron's faith in God was displayed through his loving dedication and commitment to God. He touched the lives of many associates with his love for people and a willingness to listen to their concerns. His caring heart truly reached out to help everyone in need. Barron leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted son, Cyrus Barron Player; his endearing parents, Jeanette Smith Filer (Napoleon, Sr.) and father, Chester Foster Player, of Gainesville, FL; two brothers, Romney Eric Player, of Shreveport, Louisiana and Dimitri Player, of St. Petersburg, FL; two step-sisters, Cynthia and Antoinette Filer, one step-brother, Napoleon Filer, Jr., all of Gainesville, FL; a caring mother-in-law, Georgia James, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth James (Nicole); aunts, Joyce Smith Williams (James), of Detroit, MI; Ferneese S. Morrison (Charles, Sr.), Mallie J. Smith of Gainesville, FL and Issibelle D. Smith of Detroit, MI; and an uncle, Denifield W. Player (Bettye) of Gainesville, FL, plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
