Carl Clarence Singleton

Brother Carl Clarence Singleton was born on February 23, 1941 to the late David & Estella Nelson Singleton. He was one of eleven siblings and a graduate of A. L. Mebane High School in Alachua, Florida. He was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated member of Atlas AME Church where he served faithfully in various capacities including Adult Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, Steward Board Member. He was also a member of the Men United Organization of the Monteocha Community. He later married Betty Jean Singleton, the love of his life, on December 17, 1961. To this union three children were born; Lisa, Dwayne and Sheila. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty of 54 years, and their oldest daughter, Lisa S. Brown. Brother Carl worked for many years in various occupations. These include a heavy equipment operator at Curtis E. Newsome Construction Company, and a warehouse manager at Acousti Engineering Company. In addition to this, he was an entrepreneur. Brother Carl, along with his family, owned and operated Gainesville Janitorial Service for 40 years providing exceptional service throughout the Alachua County area. He leaves to cherish loving memories to: one son, Dwayne M. Singleton (Peggy); one daughter, Sheila T. Singleton, both of Gainesville, FL; two grandchildren: Canty Geraets (Kendal) of Lake City, FL and Jerica Singleton of Tampa, FL; three great-grandchildren: Kinsley, Cainan and Kyler, all of Lake City, FL; three sisters: Ella S. Hutchinson (Ollie) of Jacksonville, FL, Glade S. McAllister, and Janie S. Johnson both of Gainesville, FL; one brother, James Singleton (Rosa) also of Gainesville, FL; one goddaughter: Javonte Ross (Akin) of Gainesville, FL; special children: Ray "Booger" Bryant, Byron "Too Tall" Wilson, Oriska G. Singleton, Sharon G. Bailey and Alfred J. Peterson, Jr. all of Gainesville, FL: loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and the entire Atlas A.M.E. Church Family. Visitation for Mr. Singleton will be Friday, October 22, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Atlas Memorial Gardens, 19917 NE 13th Street, Gainesville, Florida 32609, with Reverend George Trotman, officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Singleton Residence, 1530 NE 192nd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609 at 10:15 AM to form the Cortege.
