Charles Fred Williams

Mr. Charles F. Williams "Fred", age 77, of Hawthorne, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was born to the late Rev. Thomas D. Williams and Mollie Mathis Williams of Hawthorne, FL. Mr. Williams accepted Christ at an early age and graduated from Lincoln High School in Gainesville, FL. He then enlisted into the United States Army as a Master Sargeant and served two terms in the Vietnam War in 1961. He also achieved college credits for social services during his enlistment. He was awarded a Purple Heart while serving in the Army. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1972, Mr. Williams began working for the United States Postal Service and Florida Septic for many years. He later became a Truck Driver with Davis Express of Starke, FL, retiring after twenty years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Masonic family. Charles is preceded in death by his loving companion of thirty-two years, Queen DuBois ("that was his pinky and queen"), siblings, Tommie Roberts, Annie Lee Scott, and Dorothy Williams, John Flowers, Gus Williams, and James Williams, and step-daughter, Erica DuBois. Our dear father, step-father, grandfather, brother, and loved one will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of; Holley Howard (Russell) of Gainesville, FL, April King, Orange Park, FL, Margo White of Gainesville, FL, Alex Carlos DuBois of Hawthorne, FL, and Terica DuBois (Ray) of Melrose, FL. Charles had two living siblings; Rutha M.W. Brown (Dr. Frank Brown, Jr.) of the Virgin Islands and Jimmie Williams of Jacksonville, FL. Fred had thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, whom he went out of his way for. He was their number one "Grand-Pops"; Emmanuel King, Torneisha Williams, Torres Williams, Jr., William King, Jr, Paris Howard, Bianca, Matia, Alex Dubois, Jr., Jermaria Anderson, Aquanna Mahoney, Isiahia Williams, Ashia and DeArtis Strange, Peyton Howard, Nizar Smith, and great-grandchild, Kayden Anderson. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. His favorite scripture was Psalm 91: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty...I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress." Visitation for Mr. Williams will be Friday, February 11, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel.
