Dorothy Bernal Ferguson

Dorothy Bernal Ferguson, age 85, of Gainesville, Florida died on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Mother Ferguson was born December 15, 1935 to the late Clyde Ferguson and Katie Honor. She was a Cytogenetic Technologist at the University Florida and R.C. Phillip Laboratory for 38 years. She was also a member of Walk of Life Deliverance Ministries where she served faithfully on the Mother's Board. She was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey "Stokey" McPhadder, her son Cedric Ferguson, Sr., and her granddaughter Erika Ferguson. Mother Ferguson leaves to cherish her fond memories in the hearts of six (6) sons; Clyde Ferguson, Cleve Ferguson (Wife Ruthie), Cyril Ferguson, Michael McCray (Wife Connie), Eric Middleton (Wife Virginia), and Joe Meadows; five (5) daughters: Cynthia Ferguson Miles (Husband George), Kim Johnson (Husband Starling), Sheila Symonette (Husband Gerald), Sharon Ferguson and Dominique Ferguson; one (1) sister; Dorothy Feacher; one (1) brother; Alphonso Ferguson (Wife Hubertina); two (2) brothers-in-law; Clyde McPhadder, of Gainesville, FL, and Vernon McPhadder (Wife Geneva) of Jacksonville, FL; four(4) sisters-in-law; Sarah Ferguson of Tuskegee, Alabama, Elease McPhadder, Altamease Nobles of Gainesville, FL, and Mary-Ann McPhadder-Coats of Jacksonville, FL; a Special Niece Deloris Johnson; forty (40) grandchildren; eighty-seven (87) great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation for Mother Ferguson will be Friday, July 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Upper Room Church Of God In Christ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Upper Room Church of God In Christ, 1535 NE 15th Street, Gainesville FL, 32609, Rev. Karl Anderson and Shepherdess Pearlie Shelton, Co-Pastors; with Bishop Alfred N. Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Grass Lawn Cemetery, Gainesville, FL.
