Edward Lamour Ford, Sr.

Edward Ford, 71, of Hinesville, Georgia answered the Master's call on Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was born on March 3, 1951 in Alachua, FL to Rollar and Jessie Mae (Lewis) Ford. Mr. Ford was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and obtained the rank of E7. While serving in the Army , he was awarded The Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3, National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze T. Over the course of time, Mr. Ford obtained his Associate's degree. He taught at Bradwell Institute for over 25 years, where he retired as girls basketball coach and football coach. He was a proud member of Tru Soldiers Bike Group of Hinesville, GA, and proudly rode his Harley Soft Tail. Mr. Ford also taught JROTC at Bradwell Institute and was a member of St. Luke AME Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Lee Thomas Ford, Jerome Ford, Ella Louise Young, and Betty Jean Ford. Precious memories will linger in the hearts of; his wife, Dr. Grace Ford, DeFuniak Springs, FL; sons, Eric Ford and Edward Ford, Jr., both of Alachua, FL, and Erick Ford, Crawfordville, GA; daughters, LaTraya Ford and Elesia Ford, both of Alachua, FL, Erika Powell, Gainesville, FL, and Kristie Boyd, DeFuniak Springs, FL; siblings, Donald Lee Ford, Ronald Ford, and Tobaris Fields, all of Alachua, FL, Leola Bell Ford, Christine Howard, and Joyce Mae Ford, all of Alachua, FL; aunt, Norris Mae Robinson, Alachua, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends. Visitation for Mr. Ford will be Friday, March 11, 2022, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at St. Luke AME Church, 14950 NW US Highway 441, Alachua, FL 32615. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Upper Room Church Of God in Christ, 3575 NE 15th Street, Gainesville, FL 32609, Superintendent Karl Anderson and District Missionary Pearlie Shelton, Pastors, with Rev. Mikel James, Officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, all in attendance are asked to please wear a facial covering.
