Henry Brown

Henry Brown was born on November 25, 1945 in Gainesville, Florida (Monteocha Community) to the late Lady and Mable Irving Brown. He attended A. L. Mebane in Alachua, Florida before Clyde Irving took him under his wings and relocated him to Summit, New Jersey. There he attended Summit High School and after he served in the United States Army. He later returned to his hometown and attended Lake City Community College and received his Associate of Arts Degree. He later attended The University of Central Florida and graduated in 1984 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Henry had three children, two sons, Carson Brown and Romell Williams, and one daughter, Veronica Brown. Henry had a long-time companion, Barbara Terry, whom he loved very much and preceded him in death. Henry worked as a correctional officer in Raiford, Florida as well as a child counselor for HRS. He was a member of Mason Meridian Grand Lodge and was a member of Monteocha New Life Christian Center. He enjoyed family reunions, board games, racing cars and farming. He was always ready to have a good time with family and friends. Henry accepted the Master's call and departed this life on May 12, 2023 and left us with so many great memories. He will always have a special place in our hearts. Henry is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lacy and Mable Brown; sisters, Dorothy Ross, Bernice Wright, Emma Roberts; brothers, Lacy James Brown and Shelton Brown; adopted brothers, Clyde Irving, Marvin Irving. Those left to cherish his memories: Sons, Carson Brown and Romell Williams (Gerallunda); daughter, Veronica Brown; grandchildren, Romell Jr. and Rylah Williams; sisters, Thelma Walker and Mamie Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 27, 2023, 11:00am at the New Life Christian Center Church, 18209 NE 21st St., Monteocha Rd., Gainesville, Florida 32609. Public Visitation will be on Friday, May 26, 2023, 2:00pm-7:00pm at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601; Interment at the Rhuta Branch Cemetery, 1139 NW 192nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609.
