Mr. Lonnell H. Williams

Lonnell Hernandzo Williams departed this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2023. A 1975 graduate of Gainesville High School, Lonnell went on to join the Signal Corp of the United States Army. After medically retiring, he worked at Shands Hospital until enrolling and attending Culinary Arts School. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Lonnell moved to Georgetown, Texas and worked as a Cook and a Chef until he returned to Gainesville in 2019. He attended many of the University of Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys football games. Lonnell also loved the Florida Gators, The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and he still loved Teddy Pendergrass. Even though Lonnell was direct and colorful, he loved children as well. He was loved by many. He is the oldest son of Nelson Williams and Charlesette Cummings Sapp, both of whom preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing; daughters, Jeannell Nicole Galbreth (Chad) of Garland, TX, Candace Williams, and Marisa Rembrant of Gainesville, FL; son, Anthony Williams of Round Rock, TX.; three sisters, Patricia Lee of Jacksonville, FL, M. Lorraine Perry (John) of Highland Village, TX, and Cheryl Lisa Williams of Inglewood, CA,; four brothers, Luther and Luis Cummings of Gainesvllle, FL, Leon Cummings (Barbara) of New Jersey, and Terrance Willams of Fontana, CA. Lonnell also had three grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Williams will be Friday, November 25, 2023 from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 630 NW 2nd Street, Gainesville, FL 32601. Interment will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 9:30 AM in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, 32218.
