Mrs. Shirley Edna Taylor

Mrs. Shirley Taylor, 79, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on October 7, 2023. Mrs. Taylor was born on September 15, 1944 to Cornelius and Irene (Watson) Cue, both of whom preceded her in death. She received her education in the Alachua County Public School System graduating with the Class of 1963 from Lincoln High School. She united in holy matrimony to Charles Taylor and from this union eight children were born. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Free Canaan Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, and three sisters, Corine Cue, Evelyn Cue, and Lucille McKinney. She leaves to mourn and cherish her everlasting memory; five daughters, Jacqueline Johnson (John), Linda Cue, Sherry Cue, Tara Taylor, all of Gainesville, FL, and Rivera Tillman (Shania) of Orlando, FL; two sons, Lynn Cue (Loycie) of Fayetteville, NC and Charles Taylor, Jr. of Gainesville, FL; sister, Zelma Cue; brother, Collist Cue (Barbara), two aunts, Frances Alfred and Zelma Watson, all of Gainesville, FL; sisters-in-law, Gloria Jones (Orain), Patty Joe Gilchrist, Mamielee Peterson (Theodore), and Judy Taylor; brothers-in-law, Willis Taylor and Don Dickerson; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends. Visitation for Mrs. Taylor will be Friday, October 20, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Jerusalem Church of God by Faith, 1230 NE 156th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609, District Elder Duane E. Gainey, Officiating Pastor, with Evangelist Gladys Ellis, Presiding. Interment will follow in Free Canaan Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the home of Mrs. Zelma Cue, 433 SE 15th Street, Gainesville, FL 32641, at 10:00 AM to form the Cortege.
