Verl Harmon

Verl Harmon, 62, of Gainesville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Haven E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Born September 13, 1959 in Gainesville, FL, as one of many children from his biological parents, he was raised in Jacksonville, FL by his parents J.B. Harmon and Daisy (Mobley) Harmon as an only child. He attended the public school system of Duval County, graduating from Edward White High School, and later joined and served in the United States Army, becoming a veteran. He was a devoted father to three amazing children, Patricia Harmon, Verl Harmon, Jr., and Verl E. Harmon, and an amazing grandfather to his seven grandchildren. He was also an awesome father figure and uncle figure to a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, J.B. and Daisy Harmon, he was preceded in death by his sibling, Michael Warren, sons, Verl Harmon, Jr., and Verl E. Harmon, and special friend, Pearlie Brown. He leaves to cherish his fond memories; his daughter, Patricia Harmon of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Keshawna Harmon, Natasha Harmon, Dorian Harmon, Elijah Harmon, Emanuel Harmon, Kiran Harmon, and Timothy Holmes; special friend and second mother to his daughter, Jackie Mulberry; special friend, Eloise Huffman; special siblings, Kenny and Christine (Diane) Martin, Sidney Barton, and Johnny "Petey" Mobley; special daughter and amazing new sister, Retonnia "Vera" Fairly; special niece and nephews, Nina Watkins, Marlon Warren, and Mike Warren; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and siblings. Funeral Services will be October 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 2905 SE 21st Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32641, Reverend Kevin Thorpe, Pastor, with Minister Doug Greene, officiating. All in attendance are asked to please wear a facial mask. Visitation for Mr. Harmon will be one hour before the service. Burial will be Monday, October 18, 2021 at 12:30 PM in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Family members and friends are asked to meet at Chestnut Funeral Home, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601 at 10:00 AM to form the Cortege.
