Deborah Clarke-Phillips

Deborah Clarke-Phillips, 68, of Hawthorne, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021at UF Health Shands Hospital. She was born August 10, 1953 in Adel, Georgia to Wilbur McCormick and Mary Jones. She later attended Gainesville High School graduating with the Class of 1971. She attended the University of Florida, James Dussault University, and Ekklesia School of Ministry, receiving Master's and Doctorate degrees in Christian Education. She was employed at several jobs and ended her work life at the Veteran's Administration (VA) Medical Center until she retired. She was a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories; her devoted husband; Curtis Lee Phillips of Hawthorne, FL; her son; Lewis L. Phillips (LaBira) of Orlando, FL; loving mother; Mary J. Clarke of Gainesville, FL; daughter-in-law; Shandra Phillips; as well as children that she loves with her husband Curtis in their blended family; Christopher Phillips (katedra) of Gainesville, FL, Deanna Phillips Fleming (Jerome) of Hawthorne, FL, Marshell Albury, Curtis L. Phillips, III (Charea), Jeffrey Phillips, Kevin Phillips, Dexter Phillips (Selena) all of Gainesville, FL, and Genevether Head (Robert) of Williston, FL; she is also survived by two sisters; Bettina G. Clarke Bryant (Ezzard, Sr.) of Valrico, FL and Carolyn Clarke of Macon, GA; two brothers; Alphonso Clarke of Hawthorne, FL and Carlos Clarke (Dimitri) of Denver, CO; two sisters-in-law; Annette Turner of Chicago, IL and Jeanie Phillips of Gainesville, FL; god-children; Eddie Wilson of Newark, NJ, Cherry Griner of Gastonia, NC, Cory Williams of Ocala, FL; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends who will miss her. Visitation for Dr. Clarke-Phillips will be Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Graveside Services will be Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 2:30 PM at Jim Milton Cemetery, Bronson FL, with Rev. Adrian Taylor, officiating.
