Elizabeth Lyons Hudson

Elizabeth Lyons Hudson affectionately known as “Liz” was born on December 20,1942 in Madison, Florida to the late Wesley and Annie Mae Lyons. Her early education was received in Live Oak, Florida and after relocating to Gainesville, Florida she attended Lincoln High School. Liz received her diploma as a cosmetologist from Sarah Smith Beauty School. She was employed in healthcare as a nursing assistant in Hartford, CT and Gainesville, FL. After forty years of dedicated service, she retired from Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. Liz was blessed with a very special gift, which was loving displayed in her caring for her family, friends, patients and countless others. Upon retirement, she continued to serve her community in several capacities. She was a committed volunteer, with the Saint Francis House and the Thelma Bolton Center where she assisted and provided nourishment for the elderly and disabled. Liz was introduced to Christ at an early age. She later joined Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL and cherished her role as an Ambassador. Liz had a passion for abstract art and one of her favorite hobbies was hand crafting porcelain dolls in intricate detail. On Wednesday, December 25th, 2024 she received her angel wings and took flight to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Hansul Hudson, Sr, her eldest son Wymon, youngest son Michael and grandson Robert Mason. She was also preceded in death by sisters Dorothy, Lestee, Maggie, Lola, Ella Lois and Evelyn; brothers Willie, Charles and George (Johnnie Lee). She leaves to cherish her memories son, Hansul Hudson Jr, daughter Greta L. Hudson, great grand daughter Jakeria Mason, brother Robert Lyons (Patricia) all of Gainesville, FL, sister Christine Harper (Dexter), Atlanta, GA, brother- in- law Willie Hudson, Starke, FL. God children Kaitlin Ferguson, James Moss III and Levy Houston all of Gainesville, FL. She shared a special bond with her niece, Rhoda Oliver, Orlando, FL. Also lovingly blended into the family was Brian Middleton. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
