OBITUARY Gloria M. Stanley Age 79 Gainesville, FL Gloria Stanley, 79, passed away on February 2, 2023 after a brief illness. Gloria Stanley was born in Alachua, FL on December 11, 1943 to the late James and Susie Certain, the oldest of thirteen children. Gloria was educated in the public schools of Alachua County and graduated from A.L. Mebane High class of 1961. She attended Edward Waters College. Gloria worked and retired from the University of Florida Dental Clinic. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Stanley, son Clifford Stanley, Jr and sister Brenda Certain. Gloria was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, President of the Home Mission, Member of the Food Ministry, and member of the Women's Ministry. Gloria was well known in the community and a wonderful person to talk with. She was always enthusiastic and encouraged others she met. Gloria loved her family and would always host family dinners and gatherings. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football and basketball. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Female Protective Temple 12610 NW 39th Avenue Gainesville, FL 32606. Burial will be at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church Cemetery. Viewing on Friday from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Chestnut Memorial Park and Visitation on Friday from 5-7 pm at First Missionary Baptist Church 1515 SE 15th Street Gainesville, FL 32641. Saturday viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. and continue with the processional. Family and Friends are asked to assemble at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church 9975 NW 143rd Street Alachua, FL 32615 at 10:00 a.m. to form the cortege.
