Mr. Emory Tyner

There is a story of a good Samaritan in the New Testament. A man who sees a person that is in need of help, and he does just that. He helps the stranger. This is how Emory Tyner lived his life and this is how Emory Tyner drew his last breath, helping another and that is the legacy he leaves for us all. Emory was all about family, but that did not mean only those who were blood related because if he met you, then you became family. Many of the children in Perry called him Uncle Emory (and no, they were not blood related). In his older season of live he became Grandpa, not only to his grandchildren, but to the children of those who knew him as "Uncle" once upon a time. He drove anything with wheels (or tracks for that matter) to include the silver Challenger bus at Westfield for decades on countless field trips, sporting events, cheer leading events and even band events. For a while you may have even known him as the cotton candy man at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. There was always a twinkle in his blue eyes, one of mischievousness and of joy, as you never knew what he might be thinking up to do next. Once his wife of over 50 years (Janet Andel Tyner who preceded him in death July of 202) asked to have fresh seafood for their anniversary. He asked her where she wanted to go, she replied "Alioto's". He said - "where's that?" She replied "Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco!" So we loaded up the Gray Impala station wagon and drove to California to have fresh seafood. He could fix just about anything, as he started his career as a tractor mechanic for Case Tractor Company at George C. Nunn and Sons in Perry, GA. He worked there for many years before it closed and he became a self employed mechanic, his business was called Farm-City Service (a hat tip to the old Farm-City festivals Perry used to host). His one and only daughter, Rev. Janita Tyner Krayniak (formerly Janita McGregor) Krayniak is married to Andrew Krayniak and they reside in Powell, Wyoming where she serves the United Methodist Church as a pastor. Emory's grandchildren, Caleb McGregor and Spencer McGregor both live in Colorado. But the obituary would not be complete without mentioning Emory's best friend that you see curled up on his lap in the picture. His name is Rocky. One November he stopped to help a broken down vehicle somewhere in Twiggs County, Georgia, and this little puppy came bounding out of the tall grass to him. They have been inseparable ever since. There was never a trip Emory took that Rocky was not at his side. When Emory spoke with you on the phone, he rarely ended the call with goodbye...in fact that was the case on the night he passed, the last thing he always said was "See Ya". So to honor him one last time in this space, upi are invited to join me in saying. I love you, (Daddy)...See ya!
