Mr. Travis O'Neal Watts

Mr. Travis O'Neal Watts was born, as the youngest of 10 siblings, July 18, 1980, in Gainesville, Florida to the late Mr. George Earl Watts and Mrs. Jennie V. Osborne Watts. He was preceded in death, by his eldest sister Debra Watts. As a youngster, he was educated in the following institutions: Lake Forest Elementary School, Howard Bishop Middle School and graduated from Eastside High School, Class of 1998. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Armed Forces, where he served his country in the Army between 1999-2003. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, Travis was employed as a cook and baker at Flour Pot Bakery, Winn Dixie, Northwest Seafood, Earthfare, Wholefoods and Wards Supermarket. During his early years, Travis attended Newnans Lake Church of God by Faith under the leadership of the late Elder Joseph Camps. He sang in the youth and young adult choirs, participating in the Youth Council, where he also enjoyed acting in various roles in church plays. Travis also loved attending Church of God by Faith National Conventions. Obviously, Travis loved God. He often talked about his relationship with God and that, "he and God had it going on". He was a believer striving to do his best to do what God called him to do. Travis was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Marquita Shantell Gibbs. They were married for eight years but had 15 years together. To this union were born five beautiful children. Travis transitioned and began his journey of eternal life Christmas Day, December 25, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Mrs. Marquita Shantelle Gibbs. His children, T'yana Renay, Trece Ramon, Ta'mya Riley, Tyler Riyan, Mae'Lisha Sky, Emmaual Sharque'z Gibbs all of Gainesville, FL ; Kalvin Jeremiah Fort, Orange Heights, FL and Aniyah Denise, Orlando, FL. His mother, Jennie V. Watts; siblings Larry Watts, Hawthorne, FL; Kenneth Watts, Gainesville, FL; Brenda Cox (Anthony), Lewisville, TX; Greg Watts (Debra), Gainesville, FL; Phyllis Matthews (Cedric), Jacksonville, FL; Sharon Watts, Gainesville, FL; Derrick Watts (Lavada), Micanopy, FL; Michael Watts (Tonya), Austin, TX; in-laws: mother-in-law, Vivian Gibbs, Gainesville, FL; father-in-law, Franklin Murphy (step-mother, Vanessa), Jacksonville, FL; sisters-n-law; Kizzy Medley Gibbs, Letitia Yvetta Gibbs, and the late Pearlie Mae Gibbs, all of Gainesville, FL; Victoria Murphy Kirk (Scott) Nahunta, GA, Christine Williams, Jacksonville, FL; Machelle Murphy, Brunswick, GA; Brother-in-law, Joshua Murphy, Georgia; aunts and uncles: Annie P. Visitation for Mr. Watts will be Friday, January 6, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Upper Room Ministries Church Of God In Christ, Rev. Karl Anderson and District Missionary Pearlie Shelton, Pastors, with Elder Cedrick Matthews, Officiating.
