Mrs. Rejoyce Hampton Johnson, age 71, transitioned on July 15, 2026, in Gainesville, FL. ReJoyce was born on February 14, 1955, in the family home of her parents, Elmo Hampton and Mary Lee Hampton Grady (Curtis Grady), in Lawtey, Florida. She was raised in Lawtey during her early childhood and spent her earliest years surrounded by the guidance of her family, especially her eldest sisters, whom she referred to as Lillie & Noog. ReJoyce's early life was shaped by the strength, resilience, and deep family ties that helped form the foundation of the beautiful woman she would become. ReJoyce accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. In 2012, while in Colorado, she joined Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being an active member. ReJoyce attended Lincoln High. She also furthered her education, attending both Santa Fe College and later the University of Phoenix. She always maintained a strong work-life firstly working in the school system while pursuing a degree in special education. ReJoyce was employed by Tacahale. While in Florida, ReJoyce also had three beautiful daughters before moving to Colorado Springs, CO, in the early 1980s. After moving to Colorado with her sister and family, she settled in and remained there for over thirty years. ReJoyce served in the housekeeping industry at The Broadmoor Hotel for several years. Later going on to be distinguished in culinary services and management at School District 11 and Cheyenne Place Retirement Community for over 20 years. ReJoyce eventually married, and from that union came one son. ReJoyce was full of life, lovingly known for her impeccable cooking; she loved Blue Crabs, Brims, and Bluegills. ReJoyce was known for her green thumb and loved gardening her plants and flowers. She enjoyed music, trips, relaxing with family and friends, and strived to be present for the moments that mattered most. She loved good fun and shared stories. Her lively personality, sharp wit, and signature laugh made her the life of every gathering. She especially loved spoiling the grand-babies. Rejoice and be comforted in the loving memory of ReJoyce Johnson, 71, who departed this life on July 15, 2026, in Gainesville, FL. ReJoyce is survived by three living children, daughters Tonyell Bradley, Chianti Mosley (Martice), and one son Eugene Johnson III; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; spouse Eugene Johnson Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Lillie. B. Dodson and Mrs. Mary Moore. Brothers: Elmo Hampton Sr, Curtis L. Hampton Sr(Annette), Paul Grady(Shelia), Father-in-law Eugene Johnson Sr., along with an adoring list of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and longtime friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmo Hampton, Mary Lee Hampton Grady, Curtis Grady, her daughter, Princess Gainey, and her brothers, Leroy (Roy) and Randolph (Mackie), as well as her sisters, Dorothy (Dot), Elnora (Goon), and Shirlyn (Darlene). Along with mother-in-law Joyce Ann (Mom). Rejoice in her home-going celebration, for her labor is complete and her rest is eternal. Public Visitation and Viewing for Mrs. Hampton Johnson will be Friday, July 31, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel, 18 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Emanuel Baptist Church, 1203 NE 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601 Interment will follow immediately in Grass Lawn Cemetery, 2837 NW 13th Street, Gainesville, FL 32606.
